Bard College awarded the 2024 Mary McCarthy award to Karen Russell on May 24th.

The New York times listed “The Night Falls”, written by Karen Russell, as one of the best dance performances of 2023. The production “benefited from the participation of a master storyteller: the novelist Karen Russell.”

Jess Row has been longlisted for the 2024 Joyce Carol Oates Prize for his novel, THE NEW EARTH (Ecco, 2023). The annual $50,000 award honors a mid-career author of fiction in the midst of a burgeoning career, a distinguished writer who has emerged and is still emerging. The Prize celebrates past achievement and supports forthcoming work. Finalists are expected to be named in March 2024, with the Recipient expected to be named in April 2024.

Jess Row’s novel THE NEW EARTH is on NPR’s list of Best Books of the Year 2023, under categories “Family Matters”, “Identity and Culture”, and “Seriously Great Writing”.

THE BOOK OF UNCONFORMITIES: Speculations on Lost Time by Hugh Raffles has won the 2023 J.I. Staley Prize for Advanced Research and a 2023 Arts & Letters Award in Literature. The J.I Staley Prize is awarded annually to a living author for a book that exemplifies outstanding scholarship and writing in anthropology.

Director Paul Feig, writer Jessica Sharzer, and stars Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick will reunite in a sequel to the popular 2018 film based on Darcey Bell’s book. Filming will likely take place next year in Capri, Italy.

Kirstin Valdez Quade’s THE FIVE WOUNDS has won the Rosenthal Family Foundation/American Academy of Arts & Letters Award for Literature 2022.

The Georgia Review was awarded the 2022 American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) Award for Fiction at an awards ceremony April 5. The award recognizes three stories published in the 2021 volume year, including “Copper Queen,” by Aryn Kyle.

THE FIVE WOUNDS by Kirstin Valdez Quade (Norton, March 2021) is a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award for a Debut Novel. Award shall be announced at the Literary Awards Ceremony on February 28^th, 2022.
